Know Your Fighter: Jon Aiello

Full Name:
Jonathon Aiello

Age:
26

Where were you born:
Gold Coast

Where do you live:
Gold Coast

Which gym do you train out of:
The Fight Centre Brisbane

Who are your coaches:
Ben Johnston & Darcy Vendy

What belts or rankings do you currently possess as a martial artist:
#1 Ranked Amateur MMA fighter in Aus/NZ
Blue belt in BJJ
Champion of funniest **** on Insta

What sports or activities did you participate in growing up:
Played soccer for 5 years — hated it, lol. Played rugby for a bit — was way more fun. Love a biff.
But the larger part of my youth was spent singing, dancing, and acting in musicals or performing in a band on stage. I’m a performer in all aspects but also ridiculously competitive — MMA is the sweet spot 📈

When did you begin to take MMA seriously as a hobby and then as a potential profession:
MMA was a bit of fun to fuel my competitive nature with my mates and friends that trained for real. I sparred at parties with the boys and would seek out actual training sessions with people who trained full time at places like PUMMA and Boonchu.
We’d meet, we’d scrap, I’d usually do very well.
It wasn’t until 2021 that I fell in love with Jiu Jitsu and started looking at MMA for actual competition in events. I searched for the place and when I found Darcy Vendy, I knew CMBT — the gym he was training out of at the time — was where I was going to train as well.
Wore him down by being there more than anyone else and asking heaps of questions. Once I had my first win under his tutelage, I was hooked and knew I’d be following this path for the rest of my life.

Favourite aspect of training or favourite session of the week, and why:
Obviously sparring, lol. You get to punch on with the people you love and hate most in a safe, controlled environment… what’s not to love?

What are your greatest strengths as an athlete or a fighter:
I’m a complete mixed martial artist. To go along with this, I have a ridiculous work rate and the athleticism to accompany it. I’m a freak of nature when it comes to physical ability.

How would you describe your fighting style:
Calculated Chandler. I’m technical, durable, and explosive — same as always.

What is your favourite sport and why:
MMA — only one worth watching.

Who is your favourite athlete:
Darcy Vendy

Who is your favourite combat sports athlete:
Ilia Topuria

What are your immediate and long term goals:
Immediate: First professional win at Eternal 98
Long term: Eternal Bantamweight Champion, UFC, UFC Bantamweight Champion

When fans see your name on a fight poster, what should they expect:
To be entertained from start to finish. I’m theatrical, chaotic, and violent. No one does it like Daddi.

How do you see your upcoming fight playing out:
I see myself out-working, over-powering, and outlasting Perry. He won’t get out of the second.

A final message to any friends, family and supporters:
I love all of you. Whether you hate me or love me, you feel something for me — that’s all I do this for. Celebrate my win or talk shit about my “luck.” I’ll keep being me — it’s all love to everyone 🫶🏼

What belts or rankings do you currently possess as a martial artist:
Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

What sports or activities did you participate in growing up:
Punch-ons at interschool basketball.

When did you begin to take MMA seriously as a hobby and then as a potential profession:
I started taking MMA seriously after my first fight. Up until then, I was training hard but without direction. After that bout in 2022, I was lucky enough to be taken under Darcy Vendy’s wing—and haven’t looked back since.

Favourite aspect of training or favourite session of the week, and why:
Definitely wrestling. Nothing beats the physical exertion and dopamine rush of grabbing, tugging, lifting, and hugging your sweaty best mates. Up the Wahs.

What are your greatest strengths as an athlete or a fighter:
I’m technical, durable, and explosive. If I commit to a shot, no man alive is taking it. And no one is outlasting me. All gas, no brakes—Got all the gas in the tank, baby.

How would you describe your fighting style:
I’m a pressure cooker. I’ll be in your face, walking you down, breaking you until you fold or the buzzer goes.

What is your favourite sport and why:
MMA. Once you start watching simulated murder, nothing else compares. Gymnastics is cool though.

Who is your favourite athlete:
Jonas Solari

Who is your favourite combat sports athlete:
Darcy Vendy

What are your immediate and long-term goals:
Immediate: one more amateur fight after this one—if they can find someone with the stones to take it.
Long term: Eternal Champion. UFC fighter. UFC Bantamweight Champion.

When fans see your name on a fight poster, what should they expect:
F***ing carnage. No more waiting to see what they’re going to do—I’m taking the lead and putting them to sleep.

How do you see your upcoming fight playing out:
He’s gonna look like an airplane with that chin flying high. I’ll catch my flight. First or second round finish—he’s getting slept.

A final message to any friends, family and supporters:
Love yas all. I’m doing it for every one of us. GC and Logan City, baby!

Know Your Fighter: Jon Aiello

Full Name:
Jon Aiello.

Age:
26.

Where were you born?
Australia.

Where do you live?
Gold Coast.

Which gym do you train out of?
The Fight Centre (TFC).

Who are your coaches?
Ben Johnston and Darcy Vendy.

What belts or rankings do you currently hold as a martial artist?
Blue Belt in BJJ.

What sports or activities did you participate in growing up?
Musical theatre — I played the lead in every production I was part of, both in and out of school. I was also the lead singer in a band. I played rugby for a bit too, but I was just too small.

When did you begin to take MMA seriously as a hobby and then as a potential profession?
In 2021, as a white belt, I guillotined a brown belt in BJJ class. That moment made me realise I wanted to pursue fighting. I started training MMA the same year. After meeting Darcy, I knew I could take the sport all the way. We didn’t properly train together until after my first fight, but from then on he basically took control of my skill development and fighting career — until we both moved to TFC.

Favourite aspect of training or favourite session of the week, and why?
Wrestling. There’s nothing better than physically exhausting yourself while mixing technique with explosiveness — all without the risk of concussing your teammates. Plus, let’s be real… you’re just sweaty and rolling around with your mates. Name something better.

What are your greatest strengths as an athlete or a fighter?
My boxing and wrestling. My hands are fast, sharp, and hard. I’m smart — a young Michael Chandler with a bigger vision. I’m going to the top. 📈

How would you describe your fighting style?
My pace and pressure are unlike anything my opponents have felt. Once I get going, I’ll melt anyone standing in front of me at bantamweight.

What is your favourite sport and why?
MMA — it’s literally the only sport worth watching. Once you decide that watching simulated murder is fun, how are you meant to go back to watching footy?

Who is your favourite athlete?
Ilia Topuria.

Who is your favourite combat sports athlete?
Darcy Vendy.

What are your immediate and long-term goals?
Immediate: Knock this guy out, take one more amateur fight, then turn pro by the end of 2025 or start of 2026.
Long-term: Headline an Eternal card in Logan City — either fighting for or defending a title — before heading to the UFC.

When fans see your name on a fight poster, what should they expect?
The best performance on the card. No one does it like Daddi.

How do you see your upcoming fight playing out?
Perry is skilled, aggressive, and game — probably the kind of guy I’d be mates with if we weren’t fighting. But it sucks for him… I’m going to knock him out.

A final message to any friends, family, and supporters:
Anyone who knows me knows how much I value the support and love from my friends, family, and fans. The best way I can repay everyone who believes in me is by showcasing the best version of myself. I’ll do it for them, for TFC — and most of all, for LOGAN CITY BABY!!!
