What sports or activities did you participate in growing up:
I had my first ever fight at six years old in New Zealand. Since then, I’ve been competing in all sorts of combat sports—boxing, Muay Thai, K1, gi, and no-gi. My old man was an old-school Vale Tudo fighter and owned a gym, so I became familiar with martial arts at a very young age.

When did you begin to take MMA seriously as a hobby and then as a potential profession:
Originally, I planned to become a professional boxer. I looked up to fighters like Jai Opetaia. But when my dad passed away in 2023, I had a change of heart and decided to try MMA. Last December, I jumped straight into the GAMMA World Championships and loved it—so here I am now, continuing to follow that passion.

Favourite aspect of training or favourite session of the week, and why:
Cage wrestling, sparring, padwork, and cardio sessions.

What are your greatest strengths as an athlete or a fighter:
Heart and grit.

How would you describe your fighting style:
Sometimes patient and calculated, sometimes aggressive and guns blazing.

What is your favourite sport and why:
All combat sports. It’s pretty much all I’ve ever watched. Ever since I was a child, I used to watch the K-1 Grand Prix and Pride MMA on old VCR tapes.

Who is your favourite athlete:
Outside of combat sports, definitely my older brother Lukhan Salakaia-Loto. He plays for the Wallabies—super dedicated and successful in his sport.

Who is your favourite combat sports athlete:
Buakaw Banchamek. An elite Thai boxer—relentless, conditioned, and powerful.

What are your immediate and long term goals:
I only ever think about my next fight and take one step at a time. In the future, I want to fight everyone and make my way into the UFC. That would be awesome.

When fans see your name on a fight poster, what should they expect:
A real fight.

How do you see your upcoming fight playing out:
I have no plan. For now, I just train. When it’s go time—I’m on.

Know Your Fighter: Alexander Torres

Full Name:
Alexander Torres

Age:
33

Where were you born:
Mt. Olympus

Where do you live:
In a house.

Which gym do you train out of:
Luistro Combat Academy

Who are your coaches:
Romel Luistro

What belts or rankings do you currently possess as a martial artist:
I have been awarded a brown belt in BJJ from Romel Luistro.

What sports or activities did you participate in growing up:
I did a lot of skateboarding and BMX for sport. A lot of drinking and debauchery for activities.

When did you begin to take MMA seriously as a hobby and then as a potential profession:
About two weeks before my debut MMA fight in late 2023 is when I started to give a shit about striking. Been hooked ever since. However, the study of combat—both armed and unarmed—began in 2012 when I enlisted in the infantry.

Favourite aspect of training or favourite session of the week, and why:
I don’t have a favourite session. To be honest, most of the training is not enjoyable. It’s hard and gruelling. That’s my favourite aspect—that we must choose a hard lifestyle in order to practise the Bushido way.

What are your greatest strengths as an athlete or a fighter:
Cardio and chin, mate. A fairly good IQ helps too.

How would you describe your fighting style:
Chaotic, wild, unpredictable. With some gems of technique sprinkled in.

What is your favourite sport and why:
Outside of combat sports, skateboarding would be my favourite. They still push their bodies to the limits of impact absorption, and the skill and balance displayed always blows my mind.

Who is your favourite athlete:
Currently still slugging it out—Jim Miller.

Who is your favourite combat sports athlete:
In no particular order: Kazushi Sakuraba, Erik Paulson, Josh Barnett, Fedor Emelianenko.

What are your immediate and long term goals:
My immediate goal is to not have immediate goals. Long term: build my business, maintain balance in life, work and training—and enjoy it. Well, try to. I will have a professional MMA debut this year.

When fans see your name on a fight poster, what should they expect:
This is showbiz. They can expect a show, as well as a complete physical display of unarmed combat.

How do you see your upcoming fight playing out:
If Todoroff vs Torres 1 is anything to go by—and of course it is—it will be another mauling via wrestle domination and ground-and-pound for three rounds. However, if I forego the cartwheels and fancy move attempts, I should get a submission at some point.

A final message to any friends, family and supporters:
Of course, thank you for supporting. Buy a School of Physical Culture shirt at the link in my Insta bio. Use code TORRES when you buy an Eternal ticket. I look forward to putting on a show for all of you. I live to entertain.
