BATES V PETTIGREW: LETS HAVE A CLOSER LOOK 09 May 2019

Aldin Bates VS Glen Pettigrew
Eternal MMA 44 | Saturday May 11 | HBF Stadium Perth WA

In something reminiscent of a Shakespearian play or episode of Game of Thrones, the Eternal MMA welterweight title picture is a conflict dense division filled with intrigue and prospective championship status.

The winner of this Saturday’s co-main event at HBF stadium in Perth between Glen Pettigrew and Aldin Bates is in line for a title shot against long time Eternal and 2x domestic MMA champion, Jack Della.

Only it gets more captivating than that…
Pettigrew has fought the champion before and although he came up short in this championship title fight on REIGN FIGHTING, he has somewhat avenged the loss by capping his recent 3 fight win streak by defeating Jack’s brother Josh.

He did so by definitive submission in Perth, the home of the Della pair just to add some salt to the wound. Again, Pettigrew makes the trip into hostile territory this Saturday to realise his title aspirations and bringing his formulated game plan for success with him.
Pettigrew is known for his crushing power and ferocious ground game that consists of crafty jiu-jitsu with over-the-top wrestling slams and takedowns. During his professional career he has only been stopped by strikes the one time, against champion Jack Della as mentioned before. The rest of the outcomes from Pettigrew’s successes have been a mixed-bag of finishes including 3 submission wins, accentuated by his recent BJJ super fight win and promotion to purple belt under coach and former UFC fighter, Kyle Noke.

Pettigrew is an unmistakable competitor both for his stylistic musings in the cage and his flowing mullet mane not confined by current fashion trends.
Look for Pettigrew to execute his will against Aldin Bates and seek to put the hardened fellow welterweight on his ass or on notice in this step toward his first title.

The man preventing Pettigrew from doing so should require very little introduction should you be a Perth patron of Eternal MMA. And just to thicken up the plot of the co-main some more, Bates has beaten the champion in a gruelling stand up, bang em’ out affair that saw Bates’ hand raised as the victor via TKO (Punches), prior to Jack Della’s reign.

Aldin Bates boasts a 100% finish rate in his wins, never to have the fight determined by the judges. He shows up, throws down and seeks victory by way of strikes until ref has seen enough and graciously saves opponents from the onslaught.
The man takes care of business.

A point of interest is the return of Bates since his last outing in mid-2017 and whether the time away from the cage has been rejuvenating or if it bears some rust. Bates return signals his determination to pick up where he left off in the welterweight title picture and solidifying his place at the top with a win over Pettigrew and a second victory over Jack Della.

Either way, the match up of both men leaves very little to say this could be anything less than a battle of those who have graced the cage with the champion and seek either validation and a second win over him, or retribution and the welterweight strap.
